To Act or Not to Act… Or Head to Juvenile Detention
Sentenced to Shakespeare.
FOX’s Tom Rigatti explains:
The theater group Shakespeare & Company in Lenox works with the courts to get youngsters who break the law sentenced to perform Shakespeare on stage, instead of performing community service or going to juvenile detention.
Shakespeare in the courts has been in existence for 17 years, used to sentence youths accused of a variety of crimes, such as larceny, vandalism and assault and battery.
The probation officers and teachers who work in the program hope it will help the teens fulfill a commitment and foster a sense of pride.
