Rex Tillerson Extends Olive Branch to North Korea

The Secretary of State Thursday offering an olive branch to North Korea, saying Pyongyang “need not fear” the U.S. He was speaking in Tokyo.

    FOX’s Alastair Wanklyn reports:

Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urging North Korea to give up its nuclear program, saying it has nothing to fear:

(Tillerson) ”North Korea and its people need not fear the United States or their neighbors in the region, who seek only to live in peace with North Korea.”

The Secretary said a new approach is needed, given that the threat from North Korea is escalating. Current policies include sanctions in punishment for Pyongyang’s weapons tests.

But the Secretary added Washington will put a priority on cooperation with Japan and South Korea, so that those three nations may counter more effectively the threats from North Korea.
