The Secretary of State Thursday offering an olive branch to North Korea, saying Pyongyang "need not fear" the U.S. He was speaking in Tokyo.
FOX's Alastair Wanklyn reports:
Secretary of State Rex Tillerson urging North Korea to give up its nuclear program, saying it has nothing to fear:
(Tillerson) "North Korea and its people need not fear the United States or their neighbors in the region, who seek only to live in peace with North Korea."
The Secretary said a new approach is needed, given that the threat from North Korea is escalating. Current policies include sanctions in punishment for Pyongyang's weapons tests.
But the Secretary added Washington will put a priority on cooperation with Japan and South Korea, so that those three nations may counter more effectively the threats from North Korea.
