New York Couple Wins $10 Million on Scratch Off Ticket
A couple with more than a dollar and a dream striking it rich.
FOX’s Lilian Woo reports:
A Poughkeepsie, New York, couple stepping forward to claim a $10 million prize from a scratch off ticket, the largest cash prize from one in the state’s history.
James and Sylvia Silverence using money from previous lottery winnings to help pay for six $30 special 50th anniversary scratch off games back in January at a convenience store near their home.
50-year-old James who works for an elevator company and his wife who is 53, choosing to split the winnings with each getting a check totaling $3.31 million after taxes.
They say they’ll use part of the jackpot toward education costs for their four sons: 18, 19, 20 and 21. Mr. Silverence says some members of his large extended family might get lucky.
