Democrats Press President Trump’s Pick for Deputy Attorney General

Democrats at the confirmation hearing for President Trump’s pick for Deputy Attorney General renewed calls for an independent investigation into reported ties between Russia and the President’s inner circle.

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

Rod Rosenstein, U.S. Attorney for Maryland, was non-committal when asked whether he would appoint special counsel to look into Russian interference in the presidential election:

(Rosenstein) ”As far as I’m concerned every investigation conducted by the Department of Justice is an independent investigation.”

Rosenstein said he wants to get more familiar with the facts of ongoing investigations before making any decision on special counsel. If confirmed, Rosenstein would oversee the probe into Russian election meddling, as Attorney General Jeff Sessions has recused himself.
