White House Spokesman Stands by President Trump, Encourages Congress to Look into Wiretapping Allegation

White House press secretary Sean Spicer addressing President Trump’s claims that his campaign was wiretapped by the Obama administration during the 2016 election.

FOX’s Jon Decker reports:

Days after President Trump claimed on Twitter that Barack Obama had his telephones tapped during the election campaign, White House Spokesman Sean Spicer would not elaborate on what specific information the President was relying on in leveling the charge:

(Spicer) “The President has made it clear he wants Congress to look into this. And we’re encouraging the House and Senate Intelligence Committees to use their oversight capabilities and look into this.”

FOX News has confirmed that senior FBI officials had asked the Justice Department to dispute President Trump’s allegation, although no such statement has yet been issued.
