Senate Confirms Ryan Zinke as Interior Secretary
Another member of President Trump’s cabinet wins Senate confirmation.

A 68-31 Senate vote has confirmed Montana Congressman Ryan Zinke as Interior Secretary. The former Navy SEAL will now lead a federal department responsible for more than 400 million acres of public land.
In a Senate hearing last month, Zinke pledged to oppose attempts to sell or transfer federal lands while allowing in some cases, coal mining and oil and natural gas drilling.
A separate vote has also set up a final confirmation vote for former Republican presidential candidate and retired neurosurgeon Doctor Ben Carson to lead the department of Housing and Urban Development.
