Spicer: McMaster has “Full Authority to Structure the National Security Team”
The White House says the President would be willing to remove one of his closest advisors from the National Security Council.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
White House spokesman Sean Spicer said that if President Trump’s newly appointed national security adviser Lt. Gen. H.R. McMaster wanted to remove chief strategist Steve Bannon from the National Security Council’s principals committee, he’s got the green light:
(Spicer) “He’s got full authority to structure the national security team the way he wants. Obviously with something like that, he’d come to the President and make that recommendation. But the President would take that under serious consideration.”
Both Republicans and Democrats have questioned Bannon’s qualifications for the NSC and whether Bannon’s addition to the NSC’s principals committee would insert a domestic policy agenda into issues regarding national security.
