The new DHS guidelines give federal immigration agents wide latitude to arrest and detain undocumented immigrants and legal immigrants with criminal records.
White House spokesman Sean Spicer:
(Spicer) “The number one priority is making sure that people who pose a threat to this country are immediately dealt with. And this is not a small group of people. We’re talking close a million people who have already been adjudicated.”
DHS will now hire 10,000 new immigration officers and also request new money to build a wall along the U.S.- Mexico border.
Children brought here illegally will remain protected by DHS.
