Scott Pruitt Narrowly Confirmed as Head of EPA

Another member of President Trump’s cabinet is confirmed.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, a frequent critic of EPA regulations during the Obama Administration, will now lead the agency winning a near party-line 52-46 vote.

Democrats said the vote should have been delayed until a court-ordered release of Pruitt’s emails:

(Whitehouse) “This isn’t the end of the story, this is the beginning to the story.”

Rhode Island Democrat Sheldon Whitehouse warns of potential conflicts of interest. Republican leader Mitch McConnell dismissed the delay request as more of the same:

(McConnell) “The effort has been to delay the confirmations they have made controversial as long as possible.”

Pruitt’s confirmation is the last before the Senate returns from a week-long recess at month’s end.
