NHTSA Investigating More Car Rollaway & Fire Complaints

U.S. safety regulators are reviewing complaints of car fires and more rollaways involving two different autobrands.

    FOX’s Jeff Monosso reports:

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is reviewing eight complaints that smart cars can catch fire.

Six owners of the two-seat cars saw smoke, the check engine light or heard an unusual noise before seeing flames. In two other cases fires weren’t observed until the cars were stopped. No injuries. A recall is possible.

The government is also reviewing more complaints of rollaways of 1-million 2013-to-2016 Dodge Ram 1500 trucks and 2014-to-2016 Durango SUV’s after the vehicles’ owner shifted the transmission into park.

The rollaway complaints are similar to those that prompted the recall Jeep Grand Cherokees and other Fiat Chrysler vehicles earlier this year.
