Megadeth’s Dave Mustaine: “I’d like to Win” a Grammy for ‘Dystopia’
FOX’s Laura Ingle talks to guitarist Dave Mustaine from heavy metal band Megadeth in this “Bonus Track”:
We did meet the real Dave Mustaine, the front-man and founder of the thrash metal band Megadeth. After 30 years and 38 million records sold, the band has picked up its 12th Grammy nomination for “Best Metal Performance” for the titled track of their new album “Dystopia”:
(Mustaine) “The recognition is great, I’d like to win actually.”
Mustaine is known to snarl out his lyrics about politics and hypothetical whores. I asked him what his fans would find most surprising about him:
(Mustaine) “That I’m nice.”
Mustaine revealed he wasn’t always nice and that he once stole a KISS record when he was young:
(Mustaine) I went back and made amends to the store. And I said look you’re not going to believe this, but I owe you $10 from like 20 years ago. (Ingle) Really you did that? (Mustaine) “Yeah, I had to spiritually kind of clean my side of the street so that I would be free from all that stuff.”
