Twitter’s New Muting Options

Twitter is making it easier for users to avoid tweets that might offend them.

    FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

It’s something Twitter users have wanted for a while. A new tool the social media company unveiled Tuesday that expands the mute function which blocks accounts.

Now they can filter out tweets by keywords or phrases or conversations. Twitter has faced criticism over its handling of abusive or harassing comments on the site and is also making it easier to report conduct considered hateful.

Expanding mute also help users who have a tweet go viral avoid tons of replies.

Another possible benefit, anyone who doesn’t want to see the score of a game they’ll watch later or details of a TV show they’ve DVR’d, can mute that out.
