There's a campaign to save an artifact of American history that's been damaged by time and tourists.

There's a fundraiser in Philadelphia for one of our founding fathers: Ben Franklin's gravestone needs some work.

He's one of seven signers of the Declaration of Independence buried across from Independence Mall.

The Christ Church Preservation Trust says the marble marker has a significant crack, blamed on thousands of people a year throwing pennies at it, in honor of Ben's famous saying "a penny saved is a penny earned."

The trust has received grants to restore the gravestone, but it's seeking another $10,000 for the work.
