As the nation pauses to remember Veterans Day, the Veterans Affairs Department says it's making progress improving its health system.

FOX's Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

A VA report says it has processed a million more appointments than last year, and three-million more than in 2014.

VA Secretary Bob McDonnell says the department is making it easier for veterans to sign up for services:

(McDonnell) "Now what have we seen? Well, we've got over a million new Veterans signed up in our health care system."

One of President-elect Donald Trump's campaign promises was to create a private White House hotline that would be staffed around the clock.
