Actress Illeana Douglas Pays Tribute to Her Peers

Nearly two decades before “Beautiful: The Carole King Musical” made its way to Broadway, Illeana Douglas was playing a character inspired by King in the film “Grace of My Heart.” Acting, is in her DNA, her grandfather, Melvyn Douglas won a Tony and two Oscars. His wife, Helen Gahagan Douglas, a Broadway and film star and a congresswoman, defeated by Richard Nixon in a controversial senate race.

Her story is just part of the inspiration for a series Douglas is hosting all this month on Turner Classic Movies about actresses who’ve made a difference.

FOX’s Jane Metzler talks with Douglas about the series, her famous family members and the challenges actresses face in this era of blockbuster action movies. Douglas also remembers her first experience on a movie set and the advice she received there from a comedy legend:
