Navy Deploys Ships Ahead of Hurricane Matthew

The U.S. Navy is deploying warships ahead of Hurricane Matthew’s expected arrival near the Florida coast.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Washington:

Three warships have set sail from Naval Station Mayport, just north of Jacksonville, Florida, moving away from Hurricane Matthew’s path.

Further north in Norfolk, Virginia, the U.S.S. George Washington, an aircraft carrier, along with a hospital ship and large transport vessel are all moving south to potentially help in rescue and recovery efforts in Haiti.

A Navy admiral says up to 200 troops were being sent to Haiti along with nine helicopters.
