A.L. Wild Card Game: Encarnacion’s Walk-Off Homer in 11 Sends Blue Jays to Texas

The Texas Rangers know their opponent for the divisional series of baseball’s playoffs.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig reports:

An Edwin Encarnacion three-run homer in the 11th inning giving the Toronto Blue Jays a 5-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles in the A.L. Wild Card game. They’ll now face the Texas Rangers in the Divisional Series starting Thursday.

Jose Bautista led things off with a solo homer for Toronto in the second. Mark Trumbo answered, the Major League home run leader with a two-run shot to give Baltimore the lead in the fourth, but Ezequiel Carrera tied it with an RBI single in the fifth.

The Blue Jays had a chance to win it in the bottom of the ninth, but hit into an inning-ending double play. That set up the late drama on TBS:

(Ernie Johnson) “There’s a drive to deep left field and the ballgame is over!”
