The Keys to a Successful & Long Lasting Relationship

You’ve got the person of your dreams, but what do you have to do to keep them around forever?

FOX’s Ashley Papa has this week’s “FOX on Love”:

Relationships are like recipes without the right ingredients, you’re left with a big mess with a bigger clean up.

Dating coach, Marni Battista, says there are three main ingredients you must put into the mix if you want your relationship to last. First, you both have to want the same things:

(Battista) “When you have common relationship goals, it’s easy to feel emotionally safe and when you feel emotionally safe, it sets the stage to be vulnerable and vulnerability really is the key ingredient to creating intimacy.”

The second is knowing what values, not characteristics, you’re looking for:

(Battista) “You have a clear set of deal breakers, we call them, non-negotiables. And you’re very rational in making sure your partner meets these non-negotiables.”

Finally, Battista says you both have to be emotionally available:

(Battista) “You are able to have a high level of self-worth, you can recognize your feelings, you can articulate them, you can manage them.”
