U.S. Military Focused on Sending More Troops to Iraq

The U.S. military wants 500 more U.S. troops for Iraq amid new attacks putting more Americans in danger.

FOX’s Lucas Tomlinson has more from the Pentagon:

In addition to the 400 troops that arrived over the Labor Day weekend in Iraq, two U.S. military officials tell FOX News the military is seeking an additional 500 troops to help Iraqi forces retake Mosul.

The new troops will push the total to more than 5,000 in Iraq. The new U.S. troops will remain in an advisory role, but American forces are facing more dangers in Iraq.

A base 25 miles south of Mosul has been attacked four times this week by rocket attacks, officials tell me. One of the attacks contained suspected mustard agent. Tests are currently underway to confirm
