Tim Tebow already rewriting Major League Baseball tradition.

FOX's Chris Hoenig reports:

Tim Tebow taking to the field in Port St. Lucie, Florida, for his first day with the New York Mets instructional league. He practiced taking a lead off first, got in some swings at batting practice and did a little fielding:

(Tebow) "It was a lot of fun. It was just great. It was great to be on a team. It was great to just go through a warm-up and go through drills and just have fun, take BP, get to know the guys."

They were even selling Tebow's No. 15 Mets jersey, something not normally done until a player makes a Major League roster. Tebow signed a bridge deal with jersey supplier Majestic Athletic to allow the merchandising.

By mid-afternoon, Tebow had the top-selling Mets jersey on the MLB Shop website, each costing a cool $120.
