President Obama and Congressional Leaders Focused on Deal to Fund Government

The President meets with congressional leaders to lay out his priorities before election day.

FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:

After meeting in the Oval Office with House Speaker Paul Ryan, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, and their Democratic counterparts, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi, the President said the leaders agreed on tackling two legislative priorities:

(President Obama) “My hope is that by the time Congress adjourns before the election, that we will have an agreement in place to fund the government and that our Zika funding will be taken care of.”

The President and Congress must agree on a deal to fund the federal government for the next fiscal year to avoid a government shutdown on October 1.
