‘Merica & Fuhgeddaboudit Among New Words Added to Oxford Dictionary
Some seemingly unlikely additions to the newest version of a hallowed dictionary.
FOX’s Lisa Brady reports:
The Oxford English Dictionary doesn’t add new words lightly, but does roll with changing times and the internet’s impact is inescapable.
Click-tivism is one of the 1200 words just added. That’s signalling support for a political or social cause with a click instead of more involvement.
And freemium: Basic services for free, but a charge for more advanced features. They’ve also added words that used to be just for the locals…
“Fuhgeddaboudit.”
‘Merica is also in there, along with bracketology, gender fluid and non apology. But yolo: you only live once, so squee! That’s an exclamation expressing delight or excitement.
“Fuhgeddaboudit.”
