Minnesota Nurses Go on Strike

One labor union is out on strike this Labor Day. It’s an association of nurses in Minnesota.

    FOX’s Eben Brown reports:

Thousands of nurses at five hospitals in Minnesota walked off the job on Labor Day, following stalled talks between their union, the Minnesota Nurses Association, and Allina Health, the company that operates Abbott Northwestern Hospital among others.

Talks with federal mediators produced no agreements on, of all things, health insurance for the nurses.

The union wants to keep it’s health plan, funded by the hospital… But the hospital wants nurses to switch to its corporate plan. It would cost the hospital less money, but the nurses say their deductibles and co-pays would go up.
