August Marks Deadliest Month for Chicago

    A call for action, in Chicago, after the deadliest month, from homicides, in 20 years.

    FOX’s Jeff Monosso has more:

    There were 90 murders here in the month of August, with Chicago on pace to see 700 homicides by years end.

    Violence on the city’s south and west sides that leaders say has to stop:

    (Boykin) “We call on our federal government, our state government, our local governments to prioritizes these communities for resources, these are resources that have been abandoned.”

    Cook County commissioner Richard Boykin and other leaders say that targeting health and income disparities and high unemployment is key, but also targeting crime.

    Police blame the increase in violence on repeat offenders using illegal guns.
