NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Returns to Michigan

Chris Buescher is trying to stay in Chase contention, Dale Earnhardt Jr. out for another week and Kyle Busch in trouble again.

FOX’s Marghiee Teshineh reports:

NASCAR returns to the two mile track at Michigan and Chris Buescher is looking for redemption this weekend after a 20th place finish in June. Buescher likes the track because:

(Buescher) “We had good speed there earlier this year. I’m excited to get back there, consider it a home track for Ford, so always a bit (of) added pressure there just from that side of things. And we’re also going there to stretch the points lead.”

Buescher clinched his place in the postseason thanks to a fifth place finish at Bristol last week, but needs to maintain his place in the top 30 in driver points between now and the start of the Chase in September.

NASCAR issued warnings to four drivers including Kyle Busch for pre-race inspection violations at Bristol. This latest infraction for Busch means he gets last pick of pit stalls at Michigan.

And Dale Earnhardt Jr. is still suffering from concussion related symptoms will sit out of races at Michigan and Darlington. Alex Bowman drives this weekend and Jeff Gordon returns for the Darlington race.
