Rio Police Tell Their Side of the Lochte Robbery Story

The picture is becoming clearer about what happened to four American swimmers in Rio early Sunday.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig is covering the Olympics:

Rio police holding a press conference to discuss the investigation into claims by Ryan Lochte that he and three teammates were robbed.

Police chief Fernando Veloso revealing:

(Veloso/Translator) “There was no robbery in the way that it was reported by the athletes. They were not the victims of the criminal facts that they described.”

Instead, they apparent caused some damage at a gas station, then got back in their cab.

A security guard kept the driver from leaving, while a station manager demanded payment. Lochte, in particular, began acting erratically, so the security guard pulled out his gun. The swimmers eventually turned over the equivalent of $50 and left before police arrived.

Gunnar Bentz and Jack Conger, who were not interviewed by police on Sunday, confirming a lot of these new details to police.
