The rumors of Alex Rodriguez returning to baseball this season have been put to rest.

FOX's Matt Napolitano has the details:

A-Rod's publicist Ron Berkowitz issuing a statement Monday afternoon, two days after Rodriguez was released by the Yankees. Berkowitz saying, "I want to put all this talk to rest about Alex playing for any team this season. It's not happening."

Berkowitz's comments come one day after Miami Marlins president of baseball operations Michael Hill suggested the Marlins would view A-Rod as an option after losing slugger Giancarlo Stanton for the remainder of the season to a groin injury.
