It’s Not Easy Being Green… Olympic Pool Remains Just That

Sure, Katie Ledecky and Michael Phelps have been the stars of the pools in Rio, but it’s the water that’s been stealing headlines.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig has an update from Olympic Park:

The diving pool at the Maria Lenk Aquatics Stadium is still, in fact, green…

The water polo pool right next to it appears to be getting better, though. After getting steadily more green through the day Wednesday, it’s starting to become clearer and bluer, once more.

Swimming’s governing body says a combination of science and mechanics are to blame, a broken pump meant needed chemicals weren’t getting into the pools, throwing the Ph-balance off and changing the pools’ color.

They insist the water has been tested and is safe, so events are continuing as scheduled.
