Baltimore Shooting

A man is dead in Baltimore after exchanging gunfire with police early today (Friday).

FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has more:

Four plainclothes Baltimore police officers riding in an unmarked car heard gunfire coming from an apartment building around 9:30 last night, then drove toward the sound.

Baltimore police spokesman, T.J. Smith, says they saw a man shooting an AR 15 style weapon, then the man started firing toward the officers, and that’s when two of them returned fire.

(Officer) It was a very chaotic scene. We did not know if we had more than one suspect on the scene. We were searching the area in a methodical way.

The suspect was shot at least once and went back into that apartment building. He was found on the second floor and later died at a hospital. No one else was hurt, but it’s still not clear why the man started shooting.
