Syracuse Selects AD from Odd Place

Experience is the key for one new collegiate athletic director, just not experience in the way you’d think.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig reports:

Syracuse going a little outside the box to find their new Athletic Director, hiring John Wildhack, who has worked at ESPN for 36 years, including the last two as the network’s senior vice president for programming and production.

Wildhack is a Syracuse alum, having graduated from the university in 1980. Among his career highlights: Producing ESPN’s first-ever college football game back in 1984, as well as their first NFL game three years later.

In a statement, Chancellor Kent Syverud calling it a new day in the life of Syracuse athletics, praising Wildhack as an outside-the-box thinker with a bold vision.
