President Obama Puts the Breaks on Pulling Out Troops

President Obama is slowing the pullout of U.S. troops from Afghanistan.

Listen to FOX News Radio’s coverage of the President speaking on Wednesday morning:

Saying the security situation in Afghanistan remains precarious, President Obama announced more U.S. troops than planned will remain after he leaves office:

(President Obama) ”Instead of going down to 5,500 troops by the end of this year, the United States will maintain approximately 8,400 troops in Afghanistan into next year, through the end of my administration.”

The President said his decision will leave his successor in the best position possible. House Armed Services Committee Republican chair Mac Thornberry says new troop level will have tragic consequences for the mission in Afghanistan.
