Apple is about to unveil a new feature in its iPhones.
FOX's Dave Anthony reports:
Apple wants millions of iPhone users to consider registering as organ donors through a software update a sign up button will be within the health app that comes installed on every iPhone.
Apple CEO Tim Cook hopes they help ease a critical and longstanding organ donor shortage, a problem he saw first-hand when late Apple Co-founder Steve Jobs waited for a liver transplant two years before he died of pancreatic cancer. An excruciating process Cook says he'll never forget.
The new donor info and sign-up option will come as part of the software upgrade to iOS 10, available to a limited number of iPhone users soon and then to everyone this Fall.
