Uber App Focused on Driving Safety

Uber is going to keep better tabs on its drivers.

    FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

Uber is going to use its drivers own phones to monitor them. The company is planning to start testing in a handful of large cities new software in the app that drivers use to book rides and be tracked via GPS.

It will measure the car’s movement, so Uber will know if the driver was speeding or slammed on the brakes or used the phone while driving.

Uber will get daily reports, but says the info will not be used to penalize drivers or even reward safe drivers. It comes at a time when Uber is facing increased scrutiny.

Some local governments are considering imposing stricter oversight on ride-hailing businesses.
