A Vaccine Against Zika May Be Just Around the Corner

There could soon be a new weapon in the fight against the Zika virus.

    FOX’s Dave Anthony reports:

A Zika virus vaccine is being developed, and the FDA has given the okay for Inovio Pharmaceuticals to start testing it on people.

That company and it’s partner Gene One Life Science created the vaccine to resemble Zika in the body and testing already done in animals found it developed antibodies and other cells that attack the virus which is most dangerous to pregnant women blamed for birth defects.

Mostly in Brazil and other countries but there are three cases of babies affected in the U.S. The hope is to test the Zika vaccine in the coming weeks on 40 people to determine the safest dose.
