MLB Slaps Another Player with 162-Game Suspension

Another baseball player suspended for steroid use. And it’s a long ban.

FOX’s Chris Hoenig reports:

This is Cleveland Indians outfielder Marlon Byrd’s second positive PED test, which means a 162-game suspension, the equivalent of a full season…

His lawyer blames a tainted supplement, but says the 38-year-old accepts full responsibility.

This test was positive for Ipamorelin, which releases growth hormones, that’s different than his first 50-game suspension back in 2012, when he tested positive for Tamoxifen, a medication used by bodybuilders.

Byrd is just the third player to receive a full-season suspension for a second violation, only Mets pitcher Jenrry Meija has ever tested positive a third time, that carries a lifetime ban.
