Hurricane Season Forecast Announced

June 1 marks the official start of Hurricane season.

FOX’s Eben Brown has more from National Hurricane Center in Florida:

The forecasters here at the National Hurricane Center hope people will focus less on predicted quantity and focus more on preparation, understanding even weaker storms are deadly, especially as they bring storm surge:

(Knabb) “I think there are still a lot of people who don’t realize just how heavy, and powerful, and damaging and deadly water can be. And historically storm surge has been the deadliest hurricane hazard of all.”

That’s Richard Knabb, the Hurricane Center’s director.

The center has now made active it’s new digital maps at Hurricanes.gov, which will constantly update storm surge conditions and predictions.
