Mixed Feelings on the Killing of Harambe, Cincinnati’s Famed Gorilla
Contrasting emotions over the shooting death of a gorilla at the Cincinnati Zoo.
FOX’s Carmen Roberts reports:
Social media’s blowing up with reaction around the world over the killing of the gorilla, Harambe to save a four-year-old boy.
Cincinnati Zoo Director Thane Maynard:
(Maynard) “It’s a sad day all the way around. The right choice was made, although a difficult choice.”
Still many are expressing outrage, like a Tweet: “hunted in the wild.. now not safe in a zoo.”
And one online petition wants criminal charges filed against the boy’s parents for letting him fall into the zoo habitat.
This zoo visitor’s conflicted:
(Visitor) “We love the zoo, it’s very friendly, everything is beautiful here. But when you see something like that and then you have the disappointment, because what do you say to your grandchildren?”
The killing of 17-year-old Harambe, a western lowland gorilla, made even worse because his species is critically endangered.
