John Kasich Suspends Presidential Campaign: “The Lord Will Show Me the Way”
Ohio governor John Kasich officially suspended his campaign for president on Wednesday.
FOX’s Jared Halpern reports from Washington:
In a field that was once 17 candidates deep, Donald Trump is the last Republican remaining. A string of seven consecutive wins over the last three weeks, proving too much for Texas Senator Ted Cruz and now Ohio Governor John Kasich:
(Kasich) “As I suspend my campaign today, I have renewed faith, deeper faith, that the Lord will show me the way forward and fulfill the purpose of my life.”
Kasich had told supporters he’d stay in the race as a clear choice until Trump secured the delegates needed for the nomination, but a change of heart, Kasich abruptly canceled a planned news conference and fundraisers here in the D.C. area, instead staying in Ohio to announce the suspension of his campaign.
