Scientists Discover Three Earth-Size Planets

Scientists find three Earth-size planets and a new place to search for alien life.

FOX’s Carmen Roberts reports:

The trio of planets is just 40-light years away. Scientists found the three Earth-size planets orbiting an ultra-cool dwarf star.

That’s cool as in temperature, but amazing nonetheless. It’s the first time a search has found planets around this type of star and with it, comes a new rich region to search for life beyond our solar system.

The Belgian-led team that made the discovery says the star, dubbed Trappist-1, is in the constellation of Aquarius.

It’s so close and so faint, astronomers will be able to study the planets’ atmospheres.
