Navy SEAL Killed in Iraq
An American service member killed Tuesday in Iraq was a Navy SEAL. A U.S. defense official confirmed that to FOX News.
FOX’s Jessica Golloher reports from the Middle East Bureau:
The SEAL was advising Kurdish Peshmerga several miles behind their front line when he was killed by direct, small arms fire during a battle with ISIS.
The U.S.-led coalition says a total of 23 strikes were used to help the Peshmerga forces in their counterattack against the Islamic insurgents.
ISIS has taken over large swaths of land in Iraq and Syria. Within the past couple of weeks, President Obama has authorized the deployment of 450 more troops to Baghdad and Damascus.
