A new survey by the Education Department gives us a look into how our high school seniors are doing in math and reading.
FOX's Tonya J. Powers has the story:
The nation's report card is out, and it's a little short on good news for our high school seniors. Scores show 1/4 of 12th graders taking the 2015 test performed proficiently or better in math, but just 37% of them were proficient or above in reading.
The average math score was down a point from 2013 and that's the first drop in a decade.
For reading, scores were flat over the same period of time and down five points from more than 20 years ago when the test was first given in 1992.
So, how many students took the test? About 13,000 took the math portion and almost 19,000 took the reading test.
