Harriett Tubman to Replace Former President Andrew Jackson on $20 Bill
There’s a new face coming to the twenty dollar bill.
FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:
The $20 bill will get a face lift as former President Andrew Jackson will be replaced on the front of the bill by Harriett Tubman, an African-American abolitionist who helped rescue hundreds of slaves.
Treasury Secretary Jack Lew announced the change:
(Lew) “Her incredible story of courage and commitment to equality embodies the ideals of Democracy that our nation celebrates and we’ll continue to value her legacy by honoring her on our currency.”
Lew backed off plans to replace Alexander Hamilton, the first Treasury Secretary on the $10 bill.
The new $20 will be in circulation early in the next decade.
