President Obama Sticking by Merrick Garland as his Supreme Court Choice

The President tells FOX’s Chris Wallace that he’s sticking by Merrick Garland as his Supreme Court choice.

FOX’s Jon Decker reports from the White House:

The President told FOX News Sunday host Chris Wallace that he will stick by Merrick Garland as his Supreme Court choice, regardless of what happens in the November Presidential election:

(Wallace) “Are you saying that you will stick by Merrick Garland through the end of your term?”

    (President Obama) “Yes.”

    (Wallace) “No pulling him after?”

    (President Obama) “Absolutely not.”

Some Republicans have privately suggested that if Hillary Clinton wins in November, they may take up Garland’s nomination during the two-month lame-duck session.

Publicly, however, Republicans on the Senate Judiciary Committee remain opposed to giving Garland a confirmation hearing.
