At St. Peter's square Wednesday, five-year-old Lizzy Meyers, who is losing her hearing and sight got her wish to meet Pope Francis.

The five-year-old Ohio girl suffers from a genetic disease, already has hearing issues and will eventually go blind.

Her parents, Steve and Christine Meyers drew up a visual bucket list of the wonders of the world for their daughter Lizzy.

Top of the list was meeting the 79-year-old Pope Francis at the Vatican said her father, adding:

(Meyers) "Once we got over the initial shock of all of that we realized that we have to do as much as we can to let her see as many wonderful things as possible."

After his traditional Wednesday audience the pope greeted the spunky five year old.

The crowds were thin as security severely tightened in the wake of the brussels and paris terror attack.
