National Transportation Safety Board Investigating Tennessee Helicopter Crash
Charred wreckage is all that’s left of a tourist helicopter after a crash in the Tennessee mountains.
FOX’s Tonya J. Powers has the story:
The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash in the great Smoky Mountains National Park on Monday that killed five people who were sightseeing at the time.
Pigeon Forge police chief Jack Baldwin says the Bell 206 helicopter came down the side of a mountain and crashed at the foot of it:
(Baldwin) “There’s not much left. The helicopter is pretty well consumed in the fire.”
A witness says he saw the pilot roll out of the burning chopper. No homes were damaged and no one on the ground was hurt.
The crash site is about three miles from Dolly Parton’s Dollywood theme park.
