Iran Says It’s Sending Commandos to Syria

Iran says it’s sending commandos to Syria, even as the Obama administration has said the nation is drawing down its fighting force there.

FOX’s Rachel Sutherland reports from Washington:

Iranian military officials said Monday that members of a top army unit are heading to Syria to serve on an “advisory mission”.

The move boosts Iran’s military presence in the war-torn nation and contradicts recent statements from the White House that Iran was drawing down its elite fighting forces in Syria.

At the same time, the U.S. military has seized thousands of weapons from an Iranian ship in the Arabian Sea. The Pentagon believes the ship may have been heading to Yemen.
