One Republican leader is more optimistic about Donald Trump's general election prospects than some of his colleagues.

FOX's Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

After a weekend of protests and even unrest at Donald Trump rallies, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says:

(McCarthy) "There's no place for hatred, bigotry, or violence in politics."

McCarthy, a California Republican, tells FOX News he understands anger and frustration felt by many voters and suggests Trump could attract unsatisfied Democrats:

(McCarthy) "We've got a lot of candidates out there, whoever is selected will be better than the last eight years."

But other leading Republicans have predicted a Trump nomination will lead to widespread Democrat wins in Congress and statehouses.
