House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy Says ‘There’s No Place for Violence in Politics’

One Republican leader is more optimistic about Donald Trump’s general election prospects than some of his colleagues.

FOX’s Jared Halpern has more from Capitol Hill:

After a weekend of protests and even unrest at Donald Trump rallies, House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy says:

(McCarthy) “There’s no place for hatred, bigotry, or violence in politics.”

McCarthy, a California Republican, tells FOX News he understands anger and frustration felt by many voters and suggests Trump could attract unsatisfied Democrats:

(McCarthy) “We’ve got a lot of candidates out there, whoever is selected will be better than the last eight years.”

But other leading Republicans have predicted a Trump nomination will lead to widespread Democrat wins in Congress and statehouses.
