Former Priest Faces Murder Charges For Murder of a Beauty Queen 56 Years Ago
A former priest faces a murder charge.
FOX’s Tom Rigatti reports:
Prosecutors say it was 56 years ago that John Feit killed 25-year-old Irene Garza, a school teacher and former beauty queen.
They say Feit, who was then a 27-year-old priest, killed Garza after hearing her confession at a Catholic church in McAllen, Texas.
He was arrested in Arizona after new evidence surfaced in the decade’s old murder investigation. The probe immediately focused on the priest, since Garza disappeared just two weeks after he was charged in the assault and rape of another woman in a neighboring church.
Feit has just been extradited to Texas where he’s undergoing a health screening due to his age before facing a judge.
