President Obama Meets with Senate Leaders to Discuss Supreme Court Vacancy

The President met with Senate leaders from both parties to discuss the Supreme Court vacancy he hopes to soon fill.

FOX’s Jon Decker has more from the White House:

The President’s meeting with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and Judiciary Committee Chairman Charles Grassley and their Democratic counterparts was a short one.

Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid said McConnell and Grassley did not give an inch to the President in his effort to fill a vacant seat on the Supreme Court:

(Reid) “But they were adamant. They said no we’re not going to do this at all. We are going to do what’s never been done before.”

Senate Republicans hope to keep the seat open for a Republican president to fill next year.
